After the trade show, we visited Pipeline Coffee in Wantagh to meet with the owner and discuss starting and running a coffee business.________________________________________________Adam Gottlieb visited the 8th grade Business Management class and the WHS Virtual Enterprises class to discuss manufacturing and distribution for a large candy company.______________________________________"The Oscars"6th Grade Computer students wrote scripts and produced short films on digital citizenship and cyberbullying. They even walked the red carpet.Oscars were awarded in the following categories:Best Actress/Actor, Best Short Film, Best Script, Best EditingCongratulations to the finalists!______________________________________________________Kate, owner and founder of Petal by Pedal, visited the 8th grade E-Business class to talk about entrepreneurship and business ownership.She brought wreaths for the kids to decorate.The wreaths were donated to the Parkview Nursing Home in Massapequa._________________________________________________________The 8th grade E-Business class visited LaunchPad in Huntington to learn about business incubators and to talk with entrepreneurs/CEO's about their web-based businesses. After LaunchPad, we visited the Microsoft Store in the Walt Whitman Shops to participate in a hands-on workshop where the students coded their very own video games.____________________________________________________Thank you to Tony Smith and Claudia Massari of S.A.S. Real Estate for visiting the 8th grade Business Management class to share your expertise and talk about your careers in real estate._____________________________________The 8th grade Business Management class visited the Ronald McDonald House of LI, WBLI, Panera Bread, and the John Theissen Children's Foundation on 10/30/19 to learn about non-profits, radio advertising, and restaurant management. The class donated fleece blankets to the RMH and toys/games to the JTCF._____________________________________Virtual Enterprises InternationalEntrepreneur & Leadership Conference - LIU Post10-25-19Industry expert sessions included Financing a Business, Personal Branding/Leadership, Social Media Marketing, and Analytics/Digital Engineering.6th Grade Creative MindMrs. O'Connor's 6th grade Creative Mind classes participated in team-building activities, Tower of Cups and the Marshmallow Challenge.______________________________________NATIONAL AWARD-WINNING PROGRAMSHARK TANK CHALLENGE8th GRADE BUSINESS MANAGEMENTAs a final project, students in Mrs. O'Connor's 8th grade Business Management classes create their own businesses and then market them to a panel of judges (local business owners/professionals). This project has been selected to receive a LEAVEY AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN PRIVATE ENTERPRISE EDUCATION.
