  • THE DISTRICT’S CREATIVE MINDS STUDY WIND ENERGY

    Adrienne Downy, principal engineer for the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, and Janna Herndon, NYSERDA project manager, visited Wantagh Middle School students enrolled in the Creative Minds course, to talk about the benefits of renewable energy and, in particular, two wind turbine projects approved by the state.

  • TOPS IN GEOGRAPHY

    William Sigler, a sixth grader at Wantagh Middle School, was the winner in the school-level competition for the National Geography Bee, held on Jan. 9. He will now take a test to qualify for the opportunity to participate in the state finals.

  • WRESTLERS PLEDGE TO TAKE DOWN DRUGS

    The high school’s varsity wrestling team joined Valley Stream North High School wrestlers during participation in Wrestling Takes Down Drugs Day, held prior to a on Jan. 10 match at Wantagh High School.

  • A LESSON IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND GIVING

    Wantagh Middle School students enrolled in Nancy O’Connor’s eighth grade e-business class learned about being an entrepreneur during a visit by Kate Gilman, founder and owner of florist Petal by Pedal. Ms. Gilman spoke with the students on owning a business and what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur.

  • AN ARTISTIC EXPRESSION OF THANKS TO VETERANS

    An important message of thanks to active servicemen and veterans canvased the walls outside of art classrooms at Wantagh Middle School as students in grades 6-8 created a thank-you mural in honor of Veterans Day.

  • WANTAGH BUSINESS TEACHER WINS BTANYS INNOVATIONS GRANT

    Wantagh Business, career and technical education teacher Nancy O’Connor is the recipient of a $500 2019 Business Teachers Association of New York State Innovations Grant. The award will be used to fund iPad floor stands for the high school’s Virtual Enterprise trade shows.

  • WANTAGH MIDDLE SCHOOL WELCOMES INCOMING SIXTH GRADERS

    There was no hindering the excitement of incoming sixth grade students and their parents, who attended the middle school’s sixth grade orientation and picnic, held on Aug. 29. After picking up their schedules at the front door, the students attended a brief meeting with new principal Anthony Ciuffo, who gave them the rundown on the school’s expectations.

    Wantagh Middle School faculty and parents joined in celebrating the advancement of 229 eighth grade students, who will meet more rigorous academic challenges upon entrance into high school, during the annual Crossing-Over Ceremony held on June 7 at the high school.

  • NANCY O’CONNOR NAMED BUSINESS EDUCATION TEACHER OF THE YEAR

    The District is proud to announce that the Long Island Business Teachers Association has named middle and high school business teacher Nancy O’Connor as the Business Education Teacher of the Year. Ms. O’Connor was recognized during the annual awards ceremony attended by more than 150 Long Island teachers and students, held at the Wind Watch and Golf Country Club in Hauppauge on May 22.

    Today is Day 6          STUDENT BULLETIN        Monday, February 24, 2020

     

    Attention ALL students:  There will be an Italian Club meeting on Tuesday, February 25 in room 312 with Mrs. Sellars.  All are welcome!

    Attention ALL students:  The Computer Science club will meet in Mrs. O’Connor’s room after school on Thursday, February 27th.  All are welcome!

    Attention ALL students:  Do you love animals?  Are you interested in learning more about them and sharing your interests?  Then join the Animal Club!  Our first meeting will be after school on Monday, February 24th in the upstairs cafeteria.

    Attention ALL 7th & 8th WinterII Athletes:  If you would like to purchase a 5x7 copy of your team picture that was taken for the yearbook, bring your order form and payment to Mrs. O’Connor in the school store any morning from 8:00 – 8:10 am by Wednesday, February 26th.

    Attention ALL students:  National Breakfast Week is March 2nd to March 6th.  In honor of this event we will be having FREE breakfast all next week. Come by and enjoy!
